It’s been said that it generally takes 21 to 30 days to develop new habits. And since making life changes is all about creating new habits of thought, trying something new for 30 days (often referred to as a 30 day challenge) is a powerful conscious creation tool!
Create New Habits of Thought
When you start creating new habits of thought, you create new vibrations. After 30 days of consistently manipulating your thoughts, your outer world will begin to reflect it and the events of your life will rearrange to match the new vibrations, which is the basis of the Law of Attraction.
Try Something New
30 day challenges are about trying something new, different, fun, healthy or even crazy every day for 30 days. The daily consistency allows the new thoughts, behaviors and habits to stick and when the 30 days are up, you might be a little healthier, happier, smarter and more confident in your ability to master positive change. And then, you just might have the courage to try something a little bigger.
Steve Pavlina, a self-help author, motivational speaker and entrepreneur , is an advocate of 30-day challenges (he calls them ‘trials’) and has this to say:
“First, you’ll go far enough to establish it as a habit, and it will be easier to maintain than it was to begin it. Secondly, you’ll break the addiction of your old habit during this time. Thirdly, you’ll have 30 days of success behind you, which will give you greater confidence that you can continue. And fourthly, you’ll gain 30 days worth of results, which will give you practical feedback on what you can expect if you continue, putting you in a better place to make informed long-term decisions. Therefore, once you hit the end of the 30-day trial, your ability to make the habit permanent is vastly increased. But even if you aren’t ready to make it permanent, you can opt to extend your trial period to 60 or 90 days. The longer you go with the trial period, the easier it will be to lock in the new habit for life.”
Focus on One Intention at a Time
Committing to a 30 day challenge is a great alternative to making New Year’s resolutions! Instead of making a long bulleted list, focus on one goal or intention at a time, each lasting for 30 days. Then you’re not setting yourself up for failure. And if you do well you can extend it to 60 or 90 days, or choose to “ lock in the new habit for life.”
Abraham-Hicks 30 Day Challenge
Abraham-Hicks offers a 30 day challenge when you are serious about changing your vibrations to manifest your desires. The basic idea is to unplug from all negative energies and focus your time and attention on what feels good, peaceful, loving and fun.
Here is the outline for their process:
- Stop beating up on yourself (and others)
- Turn off media and TV for 30 days (as well as radio, internet news, and social media)
- Cancel meetings and minimize contact with other people (to the extent you can)
- Withdraw from what other people call “reality” as much as possible, beam inwardly focused for 30 days
- Explore your imagination, fire-up your passion, and make a study of delving into your vortex; write about any personal discoveries you find with as much feeling detail as possible
- Get a notebook and make lists of positive aspects (the good qualities) about your environment, your relationships, and the people or situations around you
- Tune yourself in small efforts to the vibration of who you really are; meditate on the love, beauty, kindness, magnificence, and peace that IS the core of who you really are
- As inspiration occurs, follow-through with it as soon as possible
- Make note of and document any evidence you can find of your desire becoming more vivid and getting closer, such as seeing other people who already have what you want, hearing about in conversations, dreams, or pieces of the bigger picture starting to manifest.
After 30 days of focusing your energy in this way, you can attract more easily what you want into your life.
30 Day Inspiration from Abraham-Hicks:
“It doesn’t take more than 30 days to talk yourself into being a perfect match to your dream.”
Here’s another one:
“We can tell you if you will put these questions to yourself, “How can I be happy when ..?” and then make your statement of what you think’s gone awry. And then do your best to be a little more happy even though that has happened, what’s going to happen is you are going to shore up your vibration until those things just fall by the wayside.
Do you know if you could answer the question and fulfill the answer, “How can I be happy when my house hasn’t sold?” If you could ask that question for about 30 days, to the point that within that 30 days you are not unhappy because the house hasn’t sold, it will sell!
If you ask the question, “How can I be happy when I haven’t found my life partner?” if you could ask that question for about 30 days until you’re happy even though you haven’t found what you consider to be your life partner, that partner would walk through the door and you would recognize them. It has to be that way!” – March 2006, Phoenix
And yet another good one:
“Almost all of you were taught that you are inappropriate beings, here to prove worthiness. So, we could put it very simply: The only thing that has been getting in your way is one thing: you have not been appreciating you.
So here is a process.Your goal is to find an object of attention that makes you feel good while you find it. Look for objects of attention to which you can flow an Energy of appreciation. By choosing an object of attention that causes pure positive Energy to flow through you, guess what happens to the vessel through which the pure positive Energy is flowing? You thrive. So what we would encourage you to do, for about 30 days, is get yourself on a blitz of appreciation. Make a decision that you are going to do as much appreciating in any day as you have physical time and Energy to do.” – February 1994
You can create a whole new life for yourself. Don’t doubt the power of 30 days!
