Clearing Clutter For Clarity

“If you could just go through and release those things you are not wearing, release those things you are not using, release them and leave your experience in a clearer place, then the things that are more in harmony with who you are now will more easily flow into your experience.” – Abraham-Hicks

One of the easiest and most effective ways to attract something new into your life is to create some empty space. Being surrounded by clutter can negatively affect your life experience and when your environment is clogged with stuff that you no longer need or want, the new stuff is slower to come.

“A cluttered environment can cause a cluttered point of attraction.” – Abraham-Hicks

Clutter represents slow moving energy and can get in the way of your forward progression. If you feel stuck, tackle a pile of clutter in your house and see what happens.

Clearing the clutter from your environment:

  • Clears the way for allowing what you do want
  • Let’s the Universe know you’re ready to receive
  • Helps you to let go of the past so you can move forward with ease
  • Shows faith that you know you will receive whatever you need in the future
  • Allows chi or life-force energy to flow freely
  • Brings a feeling of relief and clarity

In their book Ask and It is Given, Abraham-Hicks offers ‘The Process of Clearing Clutter for Clarity’. They recommend putting anything in your environment that is not important to your immediate experience into boxes, and storing them somewhere in your house or garage. If after a period of time the items are not needed or missed, discard them.

Here is an excerpt from the book:

A cluttered environment can lead to disorganized and negative feelings, which impede your ability to manifest what you want in your life.

  1. Get some cardboard boxes.
  2. Go around your house and look at items while asking yourself, “Is this item important to my immediate experience?” If yes, leave it alone. If no, put it in a box.
  3. As you put the item in the box, record what you have put in which box. Don’t worry about sorting things in the boxes, just make sure that you write down what item is in which box for future reference.
  4. Gather the boxes and put them in a garage or storage area.

As you go through your life, after a couple of weeks, you may realize that there are things in the boxes that you haven’t used and aren’t planning on using ever again. Then you can give the items away or sell them.

Another process, and my personal favorite, is from Marie Kondo’s book The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing. Instead of working from room to room as most organization experts suggest, Marie recommends decluttering by category (starting with clothes and then moving on to books, paper, etc) and only keep the things that spark joy within you.

The process is simple. Hold each item in your hands and ask yourself, “Does this bring me joy?” If the answer is yes, it stays, and if the answer is no, it goes. This method assures a more joyful environment because you are choosing to be surrounded by things that you love.

Whatever method you choose, clearing your space of unnecessary stuff will help you to get the energy moving so you can create your dream life faster.

Clearing clutter quotes to inspire you:

“Because everything carries its own vibration, and because you develop a vibrational relationship with everything in your life, your personal belongings do have an impact on the way you feel and on your point of attraction.” – Abraham-Hicks

“Now imagine yourself living in a space that contains only things that spark joy. Isn’t this the lifestyle you dream of?” – Marie Kondo

“Keep only those things that speak to your heart. Then take the plunge and discard all the rest. By doing this, you can reset your life and embark on a new lifestyle.” – Marie Kondo

“Deciding what to keep on the basis of what sparks joy in your heart is the most important step in tidying.” – Marie Kondo

“The best criterion for choosing what to keep and what to discard is whether keeping it will make you happy, whether it will bring you joy.” – Marie Kondo

“Keeping baggage from the past will leave no room for the happiness in the future.” – Wayne L. Misner

“Get rid of clutter and you may just find that it was blocking the door you’ve been looking for.” – Katrina Mayer
