4 Techniques For a Stress Free Holiday Season

This post was originally published on December 18, 2017 and updated on December 20, 2022.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year—but for many, also one of the most stressful! Here are 4 conscious creation techniques to help make the season more enjoyable by stopping stress in its tracks.

1. Meditation

Meditation is well known for its effectiveness in releasing stress from the mind and body. Not only does it help you to release resistance (stress and negative emotions), it also helps to raise your energetic vibrational frequency. When you raise your vibration, everything in your life flows more smoothly. If you want to cruise through the holidays feeling good and stress-free, make meditation a daily priority no matter how busy your schedule gets!

2. Prepaving

Prepaving is a process where you use the power of your imagination to see and feel how you want an experience to unfold before it happens in reality. It allows you the opportunity to practice the vibrational alignment of what you want so you can get out ahead of the manifestation and achieve the outcome you want.

This is a great technique to use for anything that you would like to have a positive outcome: Christmas shopping, holiday parties or dinners, family gatherings (especially if you have family members who are a challenge to be around), or any other event that you want to positively influence.

The process is simple. Think about what you’re going to do and say. How do you want to feel? What’s the overall vibe? What does the outcome look like?

For example, if you are going Christmas shopping, you might want to prepave the following details:

  • You find parking places easily
  • You feel energetic, festive and happy
  • Everyone you interact with is friendly and polite
  • You find everything on your list with ease
  • You have little or no waiting at the checkout lines
  • Many of the items on your shopping list are on sale

Remember to keep it positive and have fun with the process. If you feel any resistance (beliefs that it isn’t possible to have your desired outcome), then keep it general: “Everything goes smoothly. I feel relaxed and at ease.”

3. Scripting

For increased focus and to give it extra power, use the scripting technique for the event you want to prepave. Scripting is a law of attraction technique offered by Abraham-Hicks, where you write a story about how you want something to be.

Scripting helps you to consciously and deliberately create your experience. It gives you an opportunity to get more specific about what you want and it’s fun seeing how the Universe delivers what you described.

Start by identifying yourself as the main character, then identify other characters in the scenario, and then write the plot.

Here are some additional tips when scripting:

  • Write it as if it already happened
  • Include your emotions – how do you feel?
  • Include all your senses – what do you see, hear, smell, touch?
  • Keep it fun and positive – use words that make you feel good
  • Keep it lighthearted
  • Express appreciation, “I love that…,” “I love feeling…”
  • Read your script regularly

It is most effective if you write your script by hand because writing is your most powerful point of focus. But you don’t have to keep writing it over and over again.

4. EFT Tapping

Using EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) tapping is an excellent tool to help relieve stress so you can embrace the spirit of the season and happily join the festivities.

The following tapping script will help you to release holiday stress and bring you back into balance.

Before you begin tapping, find a quiet place where you can close your eyes and tune in to your thoughts. Take a deep breath and use the following script as a guide. Feel free to omit, add, or replace any statements to better suit your situation.

If you are new to EFT Tapping, please view instructions.

Start with the set up statement. While tapping on the karate chop point on either hand, repeat these setup phrases:

Even though I feel stressed out, I choose to let it go and feel calmer.
Even though the holidays are causing me stress, I allow myself to relax and enjoy the season.
Even though the holidays are stressful, I choose to be open to having fun.

Eyebrow: I’m so stressed out
Side of Eye: There is so much to do
Under Eye: Shopping and cooking
Under Nose: Cleaning and entertaining
Chin: The holidays are more work than fun
Collarbone: It’s taking it’s toll on me
Under Arm: I feel tired just thinking about it
Top of Head: I wish I could close the door on it all

Eyebrow: I want to enjoy the holidays
Side of Eye: I want to relax and have fun
Under Eye: I want to feel ease
Under Nose: I want to get into the spirit of the season
Chin: I want to feel like everything is under control
Collarbone: I want to have time for myself
Under Arm: What if all this is possible?
Top of Head: Maybe I can set my intent to make it possible

Eyebrow: I choose to have a joyful holiday experience
Side of Eye: I choose to relax and have fun
Under Eye: I choose to believe everything will get done
Under Nose: I choose to let go of the need for perfection
Chin: I choose to make time to nurture myself
Collarbone: I choose to find things to appreciate
Under Arm: I choose to allow myself to bask in the spirit of the season
Top of Head: I choose to have peace and believe all is well

After completing the tapping rounds, take a deep breath and tune in to the stress. Do you feel relief? If not, repeat the tapping sequence above until the heaviness of the stress has been relieved.

After using these scripts you should feel more relaxed, optimistic, and relieved. If the stress returns, simply repeat the process. Over time, you may find yourself handling stressful situations with ease. At last, you can look forward to the holidays with joyful anticipation and fully enjoy the spirit of the season.
